Grizzly Editor-In-Chief Goodbye

After three years full of learning and laughter working for The Grizzly, I am officially saying goodbye to the student-led newspaper and my time at Ursinus College as I graduate on May 17. I started working for The Grizzly as the Opinions Editor during my sophomore year, and at that point, I had no idea how great of an impact that participation in the newspaper would have on my education and on my life. During the first few weeks, I simply sat at my assigned computer in the Mac Lab and edited my section on Adobe InDesign quietly, as I was still quite nervous about being new to the team. Now, during year three, I spend every meeting laughing and smiling and joking with my wonderful editorial team members, and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else other than layout on Mondays and pitch meetings on Wednesdays. I can honestly say that I look back on every Grizzly moment fondly. It has been so packed full of learning, opportunity, and fun! Whether it be spending an hour doing a Beetlejuice escape room together and watching Renee try to attack Caitlin with a plastic knife, getting a picture of Caitlin chugging a liter of Diet Coke in the middle of a pitch meeting, watching Sophia and Caitlin throw around Doron’s dollar bills trying to get a good article picture, listening to Adam sing the Happy Birthday song to Sidney in quite an intense manner, or participating in our famously wild Goofly pitch meetings, I have loved every second of working with the editorial team this year. I sincerely want to thank them for all of their hard work, dedication, and most importantly, their friendship. The Grizzly has provided me with so many amazing learning opportunities, and I am so thankful for every single interview and every single article, as each gave me a new experience with something to gain. I’d also like to thank our Grizzly advisor, Doron Taussig, for always being so extremely supportive, helpful, and for creating such a wonderful environment for us all to succeed in. Involvement in The Grizzly is really something special. It is so hard to say goodbye to something that has truly changed my life for the better in so many ways, but it is time for me to move to the next chapter in my life and I cannot wait to see all of the amazing things that Grizzly team members accomplish in the coming years. They are all incredibly special people and are going to continue to do great things for The Grizzly, at Ursinus, and in their lives in general. Thank you all for these unforgettable experiences!
