Ursinus has brought me so many incredible experiences, with amazing friends, professors, clubs, and opportunities. One of the most impactful being my involvement in The Grizzly. I have been honored to hold the title of editor-in-chief this year, working alongside some of the most talented and creative writers, editors, photographers, and most importantly, friends. Without such a great team, I would not have been able to pull off this role, and I owe my thanks to them all.
Without the support of Doron Taussig, our amazing Grizzly faculty advisor, I would frankly have no idea on how to lead the team. He has provided me so much guidance and wisdom in my journey with The Grizzly, making me feel confident in my ability to lead and direct duties effectively. Furthermore, I am so grateful for Sidney, Adam, Nathaniel, Claudia, Sophia, and Nicolette, for being the absolute best group of editors to work with.
Sidney has always been a reason to smile when walking into our layout meetings, showing his joy and passion for what he does through his work. With Adam being the best hype-man I could ever ask for, I led every pitch meeting with pride. Nathaniel’s ambition and drive has been contagious this year, allowing me to dream big and encourage the team to pursue the hard stories. Claudia brought innovative ideas to the table, somehow always having a story pitch when we struggled to come up with them. Without Sophia, the website would never be updated – a task she took on every week to ensure timely delivery of the news. And finally, Nicolette, my roommate and forever friend, has been at my side throughout the whole year.
All these wonderful people have been given to me through The Grizzly. My journalism adventure started sophomore year as an occasional writer, continued in junior year as the News Editor, and finally carried me all the way to the finish line of senior year as editor-in-chief. This experience has not only been incredibly rewarding, it has been unforgettably fun and I am sad to leave it behind. I know, however, that the team I am leaving behind will be the most well-suited people for the job, and I look forward to picking up future copies of The Grizzly on my visits back to campus.
My piece of advice to anyone reading this, is to do literally anything and everything you set your mind on. The time here goes by fast, and before you know it, you will also be a senior getting ready to move on to the next step. Take the time to cherish those around you and seize all the opportunities given to you, because I am proud to say I did!
