Field Hockey Fights to Keep Season Alive

The end of October is a crucial time for the Ursinus College Field Hockey Team, with playoffs just around the corner for the Centennial Conference. The Bears currently have an overall record of 5-7 and a conference record of 1-4. This time last year with two conference games left to play, the Ursinus Bears were 6-2 and ended the season 8-2. While the Bears may not be exactly where they want to be, there is still time left in the season to turn things around.

In their last game, the Bears faced Bryn Mawr away and pulled out a 1-0 win. Senior Remi Lloyd scored the goal to solidify the win, assisted by junior Kirsten Johnston. Looking to the final games of the season, they need to continue to pull out wins to solidify a spot in the playoffs.

After this weekend, the Bears only have two more conference games left to play. They face Muhlenberg College at home on Wednesday October 29 at 7:00 PM. Last season the Bears beat the Mules away 2-1, one of the goals coming from current senior Remi Lloyd. Their last game is away against McDaniel College Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 1:00 PM. The Bears blew the Green Terror out last year in a 9-0 win. They had a nice spread of goal scorers throughout the season and hopefully will continue the trend of dominance in this year’s game.

Their next game is home against Gettysburg College on Snell Field. Not only is this Saturday homecoming, it is also the Bears Senior Day. This is a day that will honor each of the seniors’ hard work and dedication to the Bears and to their field hockey career as a whole. The seniors being honored are Lauren Breisch, Rachel Buono, Zoe Horan, Gigi Testa, Lauren Sieczkowski, Remi Lloyd, Adriana Palladinetti, and Susie Miller.

This group of girls is incredibly seasoned when it comes to winning and playoff appearances. The seniors have made it to playoffs each year on the team and even made an appearance at the NCAA Division III tournament. These girls know what it takes to win and know the feeling of your hard work paying off. We look forward to watching their season continue on and hope for two strong wins to give the chance for playoffs.

Come join the Bears and alumni at Snell Field on Saturday, October 25 at 12:00 PM to watch the Bears take on Gettysburg College, as they honor the Seniors for all of their accomplishments throughout their careers.
