As the weather warms up and the snow melts, Ursinus spring sports are underway. That means it’s time for the Ursinus softball team, prepared to take on Snell Softball Field for another season of home runs, strike outs, and a winning record. The Bears are hoping to keep their bats swinging, and their winning mentality alive for the 2026 season. Not many teams faced a more diff icult path to success than Ursinus during the 2025 season. The Bears faced four teams ranked in the top 20 in national rankings, securing a 7-1 win against #20 Moravian University. T he team went 22-20, and ended their season with a run in the Centennial Conference tournament. They finished 3rd in the conference, ahead of six other teams. Going into the 2026 season, Ursinus will look to build on their previous success. Many of the players that helped bring Ursinus to a winning record in the 2025 season will return, such as Kayla Carr ‘26, who had five home runs, Christa Andrusiewicz ‘26 and Lucy Wolf ‘28, who had ERAs (earned run averages) of 2.94 and 2.97, respectively. In the field, the Bears see the return of Anna Evanchik ‘28, who had 81 direct outs and Reagan Robinson ‘28 with 70. The 2026 season brings the return of some non-conference competition and a series of games in Kissimmee, Florida for The Spring Games tournament. The Bears will see new competitions from the University of Southern Maine, Nazareth University, Alverno College, Ithaca College, Endicott College, University of Maine-Farmington, Edgewood College, Cortland, and Bates College. The Bears are prepared to bring the same hard work and determination from 2025 into 2026. But as their captains pointed out, an obstacle may stand in their way: their inexperience. “Coming off a good season last year, we are looking to build on it,” Robinson, a captain this year, said. “ I looked up to the seniors from last year and as a captain this year I am trying to implement many of their leadership qualities.” Captain Riley Coneeny ‘26 was quick to point out that the ultimate goal remains the same, even with the youthful group. “Simply, I think our goals are to win,” Coneeny said. “I know that especially we seniors had a taste at the championship and want more.” Robinson discussed how the team and program have grown, and expressed a desire for the class to leave their mark of success on the program. “Heading into my and my fellow seniors’ final season is so bittersweet. It really has been such a pleasure to grow with this program and team.” The Bears want to bring the heat this season. Coneey described how they want to turn up the competition and be a force as game play gets underway. “This is not something specific to last season, but rather every season, we continuously bring the competitive spirit,” she said. ”As we always say, don’t let the Bears get hot!” Catch the Bears at home on Snell Softball Field on March 3rd at 3 and 5pm against Moravian University and again March 7th at 1 and 3pm against Arcadia University!
