Ursinus Does Got Talent

For the 26th Annual Ursinus College Fringe Festival, a series of events hosted by the Theater and Dance department, Ursinus students had the chance to showcase their creative abilities at their very own talent show. Modeled after the famous America’s Got Talent, Urisnus put on a talent show in which students and staff alike got to see five spectacular performers. Hosted by the Diva Devine Monroe, a drag performer, and judged by none other than Zach the Bear, Robyn Hannigan, and her husband, contestants brought out all their inner artists to impress the crowd!

From singing to hula-hooping, the five contestants exhibited a variety of talents. Performers included Zach Curvan dancing to Michael Jackson, Caitlin Cunnane singing to Creep by Radiohead, Emma Voegele hula-hooping to the Cha Cha Slide by DJ Casper, Shiv Iyer playing the flute, and last but not least, Jordan Spady singing and performing Someone Gets Hurt by the Cast of Mean Girls.

The performances all had something unique to offer, but after careful consideration, the judges awarded the top three contestants with prizes. Iyer came in third, Voegele in second, and Spady in first. Overall, the audience members seemed content with this placement, but we wanted to personally ask the attendees what their thoughts were on the show, and who should– or shouldn’t have– won.

Here’s what they had to say:

“I think the girl who won it definitely should have won. She was amazing between acting and singing – it was just so good! She put on a show.” – Nicolette Machado ‘26

“It was my first time attending and it was a great event! I really appreciated everyone who participated (it takes a lot of courage to go out on stage by yourself and share your talent!) —the judges definitely had their work cut out for them! I can’t wait to come back again next year.” – Dr. Carlita Favero, Biology Department

“I have some decently strong opinions on this matter, if I will say so myself. Caitlin definitely should have been in the top three, she was robbed. All the talents were good, however, Cailtin’s singing – especially with Creep from Radiohead – that song had emotion and skill behind it. I just think it’s messed up. We are selecting things that shouldn’t be selected.” – Chris (Contestant Caitlin Cunnane’s “unbiased” boyfriend)

“I think I did dogshit. Absolute f-ing dogshit. The people in the top three deserved it and Jordan, omg, she f-ing slayed.” – Caitlin Cunnane ‘27
